In Unit Trust investment, there are only 3 types of Asset Class - Equity, Bond and Money Market.
Referring to the above compilation from Lipper's Database from 1998 to 2007, out of 10 years, 7 years the equity funds have been performing. Again, choosing which categories of equity funds, e.g. small cap, income, etc., you have to refer back to your consultant. It is better to choose a fund according to your risk profile.
